Glycomics meets genomics
novel strategies in combining omics approaches
23 - 26 April 2010, Hotel Palace, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Welcome letter
Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the workshop entitled „Glycomics meets genomics – novel strategies in combining omics approaches“ which will take place on April 23rd-26th in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Rapid advancements in the field of genomics, proteomics and glycomics, initiated by the achievements of the Human Genome Project and complete decoding of the human genome, have opened an unimaginable set of opportunities for scientists to further unveil delicate mechanisms underlying the functional homeostasis of the biological systems. Novel omics technologies have been used extensively in studies aimed at deciphering the pathological mechanisms of disease onset and progression both in tissues and bodily fluids. Following on these early successes new strategies have been developed to combine the multitude of data stemming from studies using different approaches.
The workshop is aimed at scientists working in the field of genomics and glycomics from Croatia, EU countries and USA. The program of the workshop is geared towards participants with advanced expertise in combining different omics approaches and will include topics ranging from advanced concepts of genomic analyses of complex qualitative traits in population studies, to designing functional genomics follow-up studies, complex genetics of protein glycosylation or development of advanced computing algorithms for glycomic and genomic studies.
The workshop is supported by European Union Framework Programme 7 throguh the regional potential project „INTEgrating and Strengthening GEnomic Research in South-Eastern Europe – INTEGERS“.
